In the footsteps of my father
Just back from a countryside walk with my dad. We never really did anything like this when we were children, that's not a moan, we just got up to other stuff.
Seeing as so much of my time is spent hiking, I really wanted to do some with my dad. Since retiring he's got into walking, so I gave him a days hiking voucher as a Christmas present.
There was a lovely moment as we walked out of some woods and a hawk appeared in the distance. The hawk disappeared for a bit, then landed on a fence. The winged beast gave me just enough time to get my binoculars out of my bag, have a quick look and pass them to my dad. It felt like a simple special moment for my memory banks. I hope we have some more.
For a funnier story about walking, this is worth a look.
