Find the story that makes change happen.

A practical, collaborative workshop that helps mission-driven organisations clarify the story they most need to tell - before they invest in podcasts, films, or campaigns.

Every organisation has a story worth telling. Most just need help finding it.

Too often, organisations rush to make content before they’ve found the heart of their story.

The Story Clarity Workshop helps you slow down, make sense of what really matters, and uncover the story that connects your work to real-world change.

It’s not PR, and it’s not about getting the slickest message. It’s about finding the most human version of your story - one that moves people to think, feel, and act.

Designed for purpose-led organisations and teams who want to tell stories that make change happen.

Perfect for:

  • Charities, funders, and social enterprises.

  • Organisations planning new storytelling projects but unsure where to start.

  • Teams with a podcast, film, or campaign that’s lost direction.

I often work with people tackling subjects like class, poverty, equity, and anti-racism - stories that require honesty, sensitivity, and depth.

My own lived experience of growing up working-class shapes how I do this work: how I listen, the questions I ask, and how I help others find language for things that are often hard to name.

How it works

What You’ll Leave With

  1. A written Story Clarity Document capturing key messages, audiences, and next steps.

  2. A clear story spine - a simple narrative structure to build from.

  3. A shared understanding of who your story is for and what you want it to change.

  4. 2–3 focused story routes you can develop into creative projects (podcast, film, campaign, report).

Meet your host

Curtis James

I’ve spent years helping people and organisations tell stories about community, movements, inequality, class, and change, from community groups in Brighton to national organisations like Nesta and The Kings Fund working on community activism, anti-racism, leadership, and inclusion.

This work sits at the intersection of storytelling, policy, and lived experience. It’s about turning the everyday realities of people’s lives into stories that shift how others see the world.

No jargon, no gloss, just real stories told clearly and carefully.
